After completing my term appointment at Brookhaven National Lab
in February 1999,
I devoted increased time to teaching, writing,
software consulting, and commercial website development.
Since my last resume,
recent activities
have included the following:
Teaching
Briarcliffe College, Bethpage, NY
Appointed as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Computer Science
in Spring 1999.
Taught courses in Operating Systems principles,
Unix, and C++ Programming Language.
Completed instructor training at Cisco Regional Academy, January 2000.
The Gibbs School, Melville, NY
Engaged as a consultant to establish a new
course sequence in Unix system administration.
Appointed as Instructor in April 1999.
Taught courses in Unix
and in website development.
Developed and taught a new sequence
in Mutimedia HTML for the Graphic Arts program.
Also gave invited lectures on management training
and on innovative teaching techniques.
St. Joseph's College, Patchogue, NY
Invited lectures on "innovative teaching techniques"
Appointed as Instructor.
Taught courses in programming languages and mathematics.
Office of Continuing Education, Suffolk County Community College, Selden, NY
Taught non-credit courses in internet and e-commerce, in 1999.

Long Island Web Developers Guild
As part of the "Mentorship program"
(pro-bono work to build websites for charitable organizations),
I set up training programs, teaching HTML to the volunteers
and on-line tutorials for future projects.
Consulting
In House Legal Services, Inc., Sanford, Florida
Since July 1999,
engaged as a consultant by In House,
an established firm supplying "litigation management" software
to insurance companies in several states.
Duties and accomplishments included:
- Web-enabling two existing products
(involving CGI scripts, ASP,
and database replication at remote web servers).
- Establishing both web-based
configuration management,
to allow upper management to regain control of
software being written by developers in five states
(FL,MD,NJ,NY,CO).
- Advising key personnel regarding
software quality assurance
and integration/regression testing.
- Accompanying the CEO
on sales presentations to insurance companies
and in negotiations with other companies seeking
strategic partnerships.
Other recent consulting
March to July 1999,
software and e-commerce consulting
for a startup venture
in the fashion industry.
Also from March to July 1999,
as a part-time consultant,
I helped a large food company
establish internal standards for
design review,
configuration control,
and problem tracking.
In early 1999,
I wrote real-time device drivers
for a video tape company.
In 1998 and early 1999,
I was retained
by a major distibutor of office furniture
to train their key staff
in preparation for, and during,
transition to a new operating system and software.
Website Development
In recent years,
along with a business partner and some hired developers,
I established small commercial websites for a number of
small businesses, professionals, and organizations, including:
- A jewelry company in New Hampshire.
- A ski resort in the Catskill Mountains.
- A local group of Acupuncturists.
- An national organization for Holistic Medicine.
- A musician, promoting performances and recordings.
- An author, exhibiting a collection of essays.
- A large website for a political party's state organization.
- Contributed pro bono work to create websites
for ABCO and other civic groups,

Miscellaneous
Testified as an expert witness
in litigations involving software engineering,
quality, and practices.
