St. Louis Alderman Tells Citizens To Arm Themselves
December 4, 2008 |
St. Louis Alderman Charles Quincy called on residents to arm themselves in order to protect their lives and property.
The district police commander told Quincy, unhappy with the police response to increased crime in the area last year:
“there was nothing he could do to protect us and the community…that he didn’t have the manpower.”
People fail to realize that seldom are police in a position to protect. Usually police arrive after the fact and their job is to investigate. There cannot be a police car parked in every driveway. I suppose whether or not that investigation is murder or self-defense depends on who is the best shot.
In the meantime, I say Alderman Quincy is right on the money. We must all understand that we are our own first line of defense. It is our responsibility to do all we can to protect ourselves. We can not depend on the government to meet our most basic needs.
Get out there. Buy your gun and ammunition. Know how to use it, practice with it, and know that when you pull it out you darn well better be prepared to shoot.
