Dear Tandaleya Wilder:

Following up on the attached email dialog with Tom Kuser,
I would like to introduce myself and begin the process of
submitting some of my essays and commentaries to be
considered for broadcast.

While I have done much technical writing (e.g. for
instruction manuals, scientific journals, textbooks, etc.),
(as well as publication of a few fiction and non-fiction
essays, and a bit of theatre performance,) I have never
before attempted entry into the world of broadcasting,
but am eager to try.  Altho my professional background
may not be directly germane, the URL:  suffolk.li/bam/
contains links to a slightly out-of-date resume and update.
Should you wish further information via a more-formal
or less-electronic means, I would be happy to oblige
upon request.  Since I teach part-time at the SCCC
campus in Selden,  visiting your studio there would
be no problem.

Logistics and vitae aside, I would like to invite your
attention to some some essays and commentary pieces
that are already available on my websites.  Should you
find it convenient to review these on the web, I would
very much welcome your opinion and guidance on their
suitablity, potential if revised, or any other comments,
constructive or not.  The following URL has links to
several of these drafts (in various stages of completion):

        http://geocities.com/k2cck/

I intend to revise and submit some of these in the near
future.  Two of these pieces are, I believe, ready for
submission:

      "48chromosomes"     http://geocities.com/k2cck/essays/48chromo.html
and
      "Life is Binary"         http://geocities.com/k2cck/essays/binary.html

Also, I consider the piece entitled "What Aristotle said
about computers" to be more or less complete in content,
but am not sure of its suitability for broadcast or need for
rework.  The URL for this is:

        http://geocities.com/k2cck/aristotl.html

A companion piece, "The fundamental definition
of a computer," is at

       http://geocities.com/k2cck/lesson.html

In the section entitled "Miscellaneous Meanderings"
(some of which stemmed from a writing seminar,
and some from very old writings that were reworked
for same), I believe some items that might be further
developed into suitable form for broadcast.  In particular,
I would like to offer "The Solipsist" at:

    http://geocities.com/k2cck/essays/solip.htm

"Nothing" and "Today is a very unusual day" are
thought-pieces that seem to work in print, but I am
uncertain how (or whether) they can be reworked
for broadcast.  I also have difficulty judging
"The Perfect Place", largely because it is personal
experience about which it is hard to be objective.

++++++++++++++++ CUT THIS ++++++++++
In addition to the above, some of my opinion pieces
and political writings are posted on the web,
including the following:

       http://www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/Senate/2999/nyconsti.html
       http://www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/Senate/2999/decl.html
       http://www.suffolk.li/lpny/essays/lipavote.htm?
       http://www.suffolk.li/assembly/pennies.htm
       http://www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/Senate/2999/cindysla.html
       http://www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/Senate/2999/girlnext.html

(The last of these was published by Suffolk Life.)
++++++++++++ END OF CUT ++++++++++++

Again, I would very much welcome your opinion
and guidance on any of this.  I would like to believe
there is a radio audience for my writings, but will
rely upon your judgement as to whether my
confidence is justified.

Thank you for your kind attention.

Sincerely,
Bruce A. Martin

P.S.  In an earlier conversation with Tom,
I also mentioned some of my father's essays
on subjects ranging from pioneer aviators and
depression-era reminiscences to psychological
and anthropological theses.  Some of his writings
may be reviewed at the URL given below, but
his permission would be required for their use
on air.
